In Lisbon, one line is operating in fully-electric mode using 15 electric buses since 2020,
while 30% of the fleet runs with CNG already. The goal is that 47% of Carris' fleet is
composed by zero-emissions buses by 2028.
The Portuguese Government provides subsidies for renewing bus fleet with environmentally friendly vehicles. These subsidies currently allow for a coverage of approximately 40% of CNG or Electric buses acquisition costs and have been key to determine CARRIS investments.
